SHEET LEAD

Product Description

Sheet lead is a soft, ductile and inert material with the added benefit of its density making it an extremely versatile product.

It is manufactured by either milling (rolling) from cast slabs or direct method (DM) casting from molten metal into a continuous sheet form. Consolidated Alloys manufacture sheet lead by both methods and either product is suitable for the applications listed.

Sheet lead is one of the oldest roof flashing materials where its durability comes to the fore withstanding years of exposure to the elements in all sorts of environments to give timeless protection. Softness and ductility allow easy forming of sheet lead to suit all roof profiles and its weight ensures that it stays in place even in strong winds.

The density of sheet lead makes it ideal for sound attenuation applications as well as a barrier to low level radiation such as in x-ray rooms.

The inert nature of lead makes it ideal for lining of chemical tanks and components used in chemical processes particularly where acid exposure is involved.

Applications

Flashings - particularly on roof applications around penetrations and gables on buildings.

Dampcourse - can be used as a dampcourse in brickwork to provide a moisture barrier.

Sound proofing - ideal in walls and floors particularly when bonded or sandwiched between plaster or timber sheets.

Radiation barrier - used in x-ray rooms in hospitals, dental clinics, and other radiography applications.

Chemical plants - tank linings and various corrosive environment applications.
